Why Donate?

Donated books and other accepted materials help support the Syracuse Public Library's mission of lifelong learning. How? The library may add some donations to its collection, or the Friends of the Syracuse Public Library will sell them.

The Friends of the Library use funds from its book sales to support the library in many ways, from supporting the summer reading program to purchasing needed items, such as a drinking fountain, snacks, changing table, etc.

How To Donate

Bring any donations (see accepted list below) to the upstairs circulation desk. Please do not place donations into our outdoor drop box or Anytime Pickup Lockers.

Accepted Donations

The Friends of the Library will accept the following:

• Clean and gently used paperbacks
• Clean and gently used hardbacks
• Antique Books
• DVDs
• CDs
• Audiobooks

Unaccepted Items

The Friends of the Library will not accept:

• Magazines
• High school and college textbooks/required reading
• Books without jacket covers
• Bibles

• Cassette Tapes
• Ripped/stained materials
• Materials with mildew
• Encyclopedias or dictionaries
• Greeting cards
• VHS
