OverviewThe Syracuse Turkey-Creek Township Public Library has not expanded its physical space in over 30 years and recently identified a need to expand and renovate the library to maintain or enhance its ability to retain staff and serve the surrounding community.
The needs identified include a dedicated young adult room; two additional large meeting rooms; two to three study rooms; new and ADA-compliant restrooms; increased storage; increased staff work areas; increased outdoor play and seating areas; an enhanced quiet reading area; a dedicated computer lab; business center; and a commercial grade elevator in place of the lift. Upon purchasing the additional property to the south of the library, Executive Director Kim Blaha and the Board of Trustees recognized the inherent challenges. They commissioned Arkos Design to conduct a feasibility study to assist the director, staff, and board in assessing the viability of expanding and/or renovating the existing library to achieve the library's programmatic goals. |
