Welcome to the Syracuse Library Website
The mission of the Syracuse -Turkey Creek Township Public Library is to enhance the quality of life in the community by providing easily accessible materials, services, and programs that inform, educate, and entertain.
Syracuse Library has become Evergreen Participating Library
On December 17th, Syracuse Library will be converting to the Evergreen library system. Evergreen is an integrated library system with dozens of participating libraries across Indiana, and more libraries are joining every week. Patrons are issued an Evergreen card from their home library and may use that card to check out material at any other Evergreen library in the state. Patrons may also request material from other Evergreen libraries and expect to receive it in a couple of days; patrons can even browse and place holds on materials from other libraries online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Currently, the Evergreen Indiana library catalog holds over 1.5 million bibliographic records and provides access to 2.7 million items and more are be added each day. Once the conversion is made, the SPL will issue you a new Evergreen card to use at the SPL and all other Evergreen participating libraries.
A few things to remember about Evergreen…
- Once your card is issued to you, make sure you always bring it with you to the library when you wish to check out material. We must have the card to check material out to you – we can no longer look up your name in the system without your card. If you have lost your card, a replacement card may be purchased for $2.
- No one can use your Evergreen card except you, even if you give permission for others to use it. Make sure your spouse and children all have their own cards to use.
- Each Evergreen library will designate the length of the checkout periods. Don’t assume what a due date might be based on what our library’s checkout periods are – always check the due date on the books lent to you from other libraries. You are responsible for all fines incurred.
