Evergreen Card Policies
Fines & Fees
Residents in Turkey Creek Township and those who own property within the township are eligible for a free library card.
How to get a card:
When you come to sign up for a library card, please bring a proof of your current address and a picture ID. Children under the age of 18 need an adult's signature (showing responsibility for fines and fees) to get a card.
Students (or teachers) in the Wawasee Community School district are eligible for a free one-year card, renewable every year until their graduation date.
Non-resident cards may be bought for those who live outside our township. You get the same privileges as residents.
PLAC (Public Library Access Card) may also be purchased (for $65) at the circulation desk allowing the patron to use any public library in Indiana.
Need a Replacement Card?
Patrons can purchase a replacement card for $2. Simply come into the library with a photo ID so your identity can be verified.
Also note if you are signed into the Evergreen App, you do have access to a digital library card.
The library has gone fine free (with the exception of mobile hotspots). You will not incur any 25 cent charge for any material checked out from the Syracuse Library. If you keep your item(s) for 28 past their due date, they will be marked to lost. If you bring your materials back in good condition, the fine will be taken off your account.
The mobile hotspots incur a $2 fine for each day they aren't returned and they do not have the one day grace period.
Once the fines on your card reach $10, your card will be blocked at all Evergreen locations. If you have 15 or more overdue items, your card will be blocked at all Evergreen locations.
Your account will be charged with replacement costs for any items not returned within 28 days of their due date. If you return said item in good condition, the library will forgive the cost of that item. The library will not issue refunds for lost items which have been paid for and are later returned.
Your items will be auto-renewed if they have been checked out from our library, there are no holds on them, and no other date restrictions.
When the library is closed, items may be returned in the book and media dropboxes on Harrison Street outside the library.
Items that have holds are not renewable.
You must present your Evergreen Indiana card at the desk in order to borrow library materials. Cards are non-transferable and cannot be used by anyone other that the card holder.
The maximum number of items that can be simultaneously checked out on your Evergreen card are as follows:
If you are planning to check out materials at libraries other than the Syracuse Public Library, please be aware that the above list is the maximum number of items per card, not per library
