Whether you’re a current resident, a new addition to Syracuse, Indiana, or just returning to the lake for the summer, the Syracuse-Turkey Creek Township Public Library is a wonderful community resource for all of your information needs. From materials to great programs, make use of our offerings.

Our programs are free (unless otherwise stated) and open to anyone, library card or not.

SPL is a fine-free, Evergreen Indiana Library, connecting residents of the town of Syracuse and Turkey Creek Township with thousands of materials through the Evergreen network.

In December, read the dystopian novel “The Faint of Heart” by Kerilynn Wilson. Discussion will occur from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Rosalyn Jones Room.

Bring your fiber arts projects to SPL during our new knitting and crocheting club, which meets at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Dec. 3 and 17 and Jan. 14 and 28.

Use graham crackers to create a house or let your imagination soar. Be careful you might want to take a bite! Young adults can attend this program from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in the downstairs meeting room.

SPL's adult book club meets at 1 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month to discuss a different book. Click to visit the adult department's page to see what this month's book is!

Storytime and Homeschool Class meets at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, Dec. 4 and 11. It then goes on a holiday break before returning on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

Enjoy Bonus Borrows more often! Bonus Borrows will be available the last seven days of each month, starting in March. Choose from these select titles without using your monthly borrows!

Join YA Video Gaming from 4-7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month in the Rosalyn Jones Room.

Reading Prompt Bookmarks are BACK! Click here to download all eight genres for printing. Limited copies are available at SPL.

Craftella will create festive wrapping paper to take home and use, or participants can bring presents to wrap. You could also make decorative faux presents. This is a drop-in program that will run from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, in the downstairs meeting room, or as long as supplies last. Email Rebekah for information at [email protected].

The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library are hosting a coffee social from 10:30 a.m. until noon Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the library's upstairs sitting area. There will be a $20 Brew City Gift Card Give Away!

In December, create pop-up holiday cards from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12. Register at https://tinyurl.com/SPLHolidayCards.

The Adult Book Club will discuss "Rift" by Cait West and virtually meet the author at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the downstairs meeting room. Copies of the book are available at the library.

The YA Writing Club will have a cozy write-in from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. There will be tea and baked goods.

Residents of the town of Syracuse and Turkey Creek Township can receive a free library card. In addition to resident cards, nonresident cards are available for purchase.

Policies & Procedures

Fine Free

Syracuse Public Library is a fine-free library for all materials, excluding hotspots. If items exceed 28 days past their due date, they will be marked as lost. That fine will be removed from an account if the items in question are returned in good condition.  Materials borrowed from other libraries may accrue fines.

The Power Of Libraries

Evergreen Indiana is a growing consortium of over 125 public, school and institutional libraries located throughout Indiana that use the Evergreen ILS. This resource sharing initiative provides cost savings for the library and access to almost 8 million items for over 1 million Indiana residents.
