Whether you’re a current resident, a new addition to Syracuse, Indiana, or just returning to the lake for the summer, the Syracuse-Turkey Creek Township Public Library is a wonderful community resource for all of your information needs. From materials to great programs, make use of our offerings.

Our programs are free (unless otherwise stated) and open to anyone, library card or not.

SPL is a fine-free, Evergreen Indiana Library, connecting residents of the town of Syracuse and Turkey Creek Township with thousands of materials through the Evergreen network.

SPL's adult book club meets at 1 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month to discuss a different book. Click to visit the adult department's page to see what this month's book is!

Syracuse Public Library will close Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Enjoy Bonus Borrows more often! Bonus Borrows will be available the last seven days of each month. Choose from these select titles without using your monthly borrows!

Join YA Video Gaming from 4-7 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month in the Rosalyn Jones Room.

Join Hanna for the Art of Mending and bring clothing pieces that need repairing. The repair area should be palm-sized or smaller. The group will focus on a Japanese mending technique known as Sashiko. Register for this program that meets from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the downstairs meeting room.

Teens are invited to Read in the Sun from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, in Community Roots outdoor space. Read and bask in the sun's rays! In the event of rain, the group will move into the Rosalyn Jones Room aka the teen room.

The entire family is invited to the Syracuse Public Library for comedy night from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, in the downstairs meeting room. Bring your best (clean) jokes to share.

Teens can learn a new language with Amber from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 21, in the Rosalyn Jones Room.

Come see the animal friends that Mark's Ark is bringing to the Syracuse Public Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, June 27. If the weather allows, this program will be in SPL's Community Roots outdoor space. If it rains, it will move into the downstairs meeting room.

The YA Writing Club will have a cozy write-in from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Each month features different baked goods.
Chess pawn
All ages can join SPL's new Chess Club, which meets from 4-5 p.m. every Friday in the downstairs meeting room. Chess boards are available at the library, but attendees can also bring their own if they link.

Adults can join the Roaming Readers walking club from 10-11 a.m. each Friday for a leisurely stroll. Share current reads while staying active. Syracuse-Wawasee Trails will join every other week to share trail news and information.

Residents of the town of Syracuse and Turkey Creek Township can receive a free library card. In addition to resident cards, nonresident cards are available for purchase.

Policies & Procedures

Fine Free

Syracuse Public Library is a fine-free library for all materials, excluding hotspots. If items exceed 28 days past their due date, they will be marked as lost. That fine will be removed from an account if the items in question are returned in good condition.  Materials borrowed from other libraries may accrue fines.

The Power Of Libraries

Evergreen Indiana Library Consortium
Evergreen Indiana is a growing consortium of over 125 public, school and institutional libraries located throughout Indiana that use the Evergreen ILS. This resource sharing initiative provides cost savings for the library and access to almost 8 million items for over 1 million Indiana residents. A list of participating libraries is available on the Evergreen Indiana Member Libraries page.
