Welcome


Whether you’re a current resident, a new addition to Syracuse, Indiana, or just returning to the lake for the summer, the Syracuse-Turkey Creek Township Public Library is a wonderful community resource for all of your information needs. From materials to great programs, make use of our offerings.

Our programs are free (unless otherwise stated) and open to anyone, library card or not.

SPL is a fine-free, Evergreen Indiana Library, connecting residents of the town of Syracuse and Turkey Creek Township with thousands of materials through the Evergreen network.

Digital Newsletter sign-up

Get the latest library news delivered directly into your email inbox! Sign up for either the library's weekly or monthly newsletters -- or both.

Leprechaun in cage

Take part in this Syracuse Public Library's March tradition and register to build Leprechaun Traps from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the downstairs meeting room. Up to 15 sign-ups are allowed. Please register each child separately.

The Friends of the Library are bring back their coffee socials from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 11, in the upstairs sitting area. This will be the final coffee social of the season.

Pikachu and pokeball

Pokemon Club meets from 4-5 p.m. every other Friday in the children's department (teens are welcome to join, too). Bring your deck to play along! For the full club schedule, click to visit our online calendar.

SPL's adult book club meets at 1 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month to discuss a different book. Click to visit the adult department's page to see what this month's book is!

Blood pressure monitor kit

Stay on top of your health at the Syracuse Public Library. Patrons can now check out blood pressure monitor kits for two-weeks. There is also one blood pressure monitor that can be used while visiting the library.

Enjoy Bonus Borrows more often! Bonus Borrows will be available the last seven days of each month. Choose from these select titles without using your monthly borrows!

Tashina Lahr-Manifold, Soil Health Specialist with Kosciusko County Soil and Water Conservation District will lead a soil health class from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March, in the Syracuse Public Library's Downstairs Meeting Room. Learn how to improve your soil's health.

It’s time to get crafting! This month teens can decorate Polaroid pictures or use provided materials to create a craft of their choice. Craft Corner meets from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in the Rosalyn Jones Room.

Stop by the Syracuse Public Library to get all your funerary questions answer by pre-planning specialist Brittany Lyon from 1-2 p.m. Monday, March 30, in the upstairs sitting area.

Use your library card to access hundreds of digital materials via the Libby and Hoopla apps.

Seed Bomb Craft

Create seed bombs to take home and enjoy at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in the downstairs meeting room. Space is limited, so click to register.

Join Create with Canva from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Teens are encouraged to bring their laptops from home for this class, though the library offers limited public computers. During the session, Amber will help teens set up a free Canva account before exploring its offerings.

Bring your family trees and/or devices (plus questions) to enjoy a cozy hour of genealogy research accompanied by high tea during Trees & Teatime! It meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. every third Friday in the downstairs meeting room.

The YA Writing Club will have a cozy write-in from 3:30-4:30 p.m. every 2nd Friday in the Rosalyn Jones Room. Each month features different baked goods.

Chess pawn

All ages can join SPL's new Chess Club, which meets from 4-5 p.m. every Friday in the downstairs meeting room. Chess boards are available at the library, but attendees can also bring their own if they link.

Policies & Procedures

Fine Free

Syracuse Public Library is a fine-free library for all materials, excluding hotspots. If items exceed 28 days past their due date, they will be marked as lost. That fine will be removed from an account if the items in question are returned in good condition.  Materials borrowed from other libraries may accrue fines.

Evergreen Indiana Library Consortium
Evergreen Indiana is a growing consortium of over 125 public, school and institutional libraries located throughout Indiana that use the Evergreen ILS. This resource sharing initiative provides cost savings for the library and access to almost 8 million items for over 1 million Indiana residents.
