Children (teens can come, too!) will have a new club every other Friday! In September, the club will meet Fridays, Sept. 19 and 26. The Pokemon Club will meet from 4-5 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 5 and 19 and Jan. 2, 16, and 30, in the children’s department. The club will dive into the world of Pokemon, including the card game! TALK: Text and Learn

TALK: Text and Learn for Kindergarten is a text messaging service. It sends developmentally leveled activity suggestions based on the five Every Child Ready to Read practices to parents and caregivers with children 5 and
under. TALK: Text and Learn for Kindergarten sends two text messages each week suggesting activities that parents and caregivers can easily incorporate into daily routines with their children. The service also notifies parents of free activities and services at the library. TALK is available to parents and caregivers in Michigan and Indiana with children ages 5 and under, and officially launched in Syracuse in January 2024. Parents can sign up by texting TALK to 75547 or visiting www.textandlearn.org. |
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
It's never been easier to read 1,000 books before kindergarten! The Syracuse Public Library has introduced sticker sheets to track reading, instead of the sheet requiring titles to be written down. Download the sheet here or pick up one from the children's desk. Stickers are available for pick up as well!
Just read one book a night, you will have read 365 per year. The child will receive a small prize or a book for every 100 books read!

Internet Safety for Children
The internet can be hard to navigate for adults, let alone for children. Google has created Be Internet Awesome to help teach children to avoid scams, false information, and nefarious players. The Be Internet Awesome site features information for parents and educators to share with children to keep them safe. Children will also enjoy the games on the website, which include spreading kindness online and avoiding phishers. Check out this great resource today!
