The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library are holding a special fundraiser in February: A Blind Date With a Book. Embark on a romantic rendezvous with a gently used book — title unknown — from Feb. 1-28, or while supplies last. Each uniquely wrapped book is $10 and comes with hidden surprises inside. These books could also make a fabulous gift for fellow book lovers. All proceeds go to support the library.

The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library are updating their program with cozy mystery and historical fiction author Darci Hannah! It is now a free author event! We invite everyone to hear Hannah speak at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Syracuse Public Library's downstairs meeting room. A Midwest native, Hannah is best known for her cozy mysteries and historical fiction. Her stories often combine her love of the Great Lakes, baking, and animal friends — the ingredients for rather tasty mysteries! Fans of mysteries with recipes will definitely enjoy Hannah's "Beacon Bakeshop Mystery" series and "A Very Cherry Mystery" series.
Attendees will listen to Hannah speak and enjoy light refreshments. This event is free, and there will be a door prize! Hannah will also have copies of her books available for purchase. For information about Hannah, visit her author website. NOTE: The luncheon portion of this event has been cancelled. The Friends are working on other plans with author Darci Hannah. We will update once plans have been finalized. Support the Friends of the Syracuse Public Library and meet author Darci Hannah by purchasing a ticket to the Friends' September luncheon! Darci Hannah, best known for her cozy mysteries, will visit Syracuse for the luncheon, which occurs at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Hannah is a native of the Midwest and currently lives in a small town in Michigan. She is a lifelong lover of the Great Lakes, a natural wonder that inspires many of her stories. Her most recent novel is "Murder at the Blueberry Festival," which releases July 26.
Tickets for this event are now available for purchase from a FOL member or at the Syracuse Public Library's upstairs circulation desk. The Friends raise money to support the Syracuse Public Library and its programs. To learn more about the Friends, click here. |
