During September, telephone hold notifications will be down. Evergreen Indiana hopes this service will be restored within four weeks once a new service provider is found. In June 2022, Evergreen Indiana was informed that the provider it currently uses to send the telephone notifications would shut off service in October. That date has been changed to Sept. 6.
Evergreen Indiana had already begun the search for alternative providers in June. All of the pieces are now in place with the exception of the new provider actually doing the final steps to transition service. Evergreen Indiana anticipates there could be a downtime of up to four weeks for telephone notification holds. SMS (text) and email notifications will continue without pause. What does this mean? If you want to receive hold notifications, enable SMS (text) and/or email notifications for holds. You can also ask staff at the desk to help you get these notifications set up. I don't have or want email or text notifications. How do I still receive hold notifications at this time? If you are asking a staff member to place a hold, tell them that you would still like to be notified via telephone. The staff of the Syracuse Public Library will then personally call you when your hold comes in. If you are placing your own hold via the Evergreen Indiana app, go to place your hold as normal (see Photo 1). When you get to the second screen (Photo 2), leave all notification boxes (circled in orange) blank before clicking Place Hold (circled in green). This will alert SPL staff that you still need notified. We will then call you. If you have have any questions, contact Syracuse Public Library at (574) 457-3022.
