April is going to be hopping in the children's department! From a weeklong celebration of spring break to a new evening program, we've got programming for children of all ages.

Spring Break Madness

Each day during spring break will have a different theme: game day, Monday, April 4; Lego day, Tuesday, April 5; “Where’s Waldo” day, Wednesday, April 6; and play dough and clay creation day, Thursday, April 7. On these days, children can drop in during library hours to enjoy activities tied into the day’s theme. There will be a special Lego Jell-O program from 2-3 p.m. April 5, with a showing of “The Lego Batman Movie” following at 6 p.m.

The week culminates with a tour at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, of Sweetwater, 5501 US 30 West, in Fort Wayne. Everyone will meet at Sweetwater for the tour, which will include the company's history, a peek at its behind-the-scenes recording studios, a chance to go down its giant slide and more. Space is limited to 25 people, so registration is required. Register in person at the library or online at https://bit.ly/3CEyqjM. If you have questions or have plans change after registration, contact Rebekah Sceniak at rksceniak@syracuse.lib.in.us or (574) 457-3022.

Homeschool Program And Storytime

The Homeschool Program continues at 10:30 a.m. each Friday in April. Topics will include:
  • Percussion Instruments, April 1
  • Board Game Fun, April 8
  • Sign Language, April 15
  • Cloud Formation Patterns, April 22
  • Flowerpot Decorating, April 29

Storytime will also occur at 10:30 a.m. each Friday during April. There will no be Wacky & Wiggly Wednesday Storytime in April.

Flowerpot Decorating

The Syracuse Public Library will have a new evening program at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28. Children and their families will be decorating flowerpots! We are limited on materials, so register for this program in person at the children's desk or sign up online.
